Pre-season is well underway at Springfield, with senior training have been started mid July and now our first team have played their first friendlies.
Last week, Galleywood were the opposition on Moulsham School’s all weather surface. The game ended with a 1-0 win to Springfield and a good run out for both sides. We were also due to pay on Saturday 28th but our opposition withdrew, however, we were able to get going again as we visited Hatfield Peverel of the Essex and Suffolk Border league on Tuesday 31st July. Despite taking the lead through Jack Mundy, the home side pegged us back. Springfield took the lead again, only for a determined Hatfield to equalise again as the game ended in a 2-2 draw.
Another good run out though and thanks to both Galleywood and Hatfield Peverel for taking part and we wish them both all the best for the coming season.
The Annual General Meeting of Springfield Football Club will be held at The Clubhouse, Springfield Hall Park on Monday 23rd July, commencing at 7.30pm.

Our annual Junior Football Tournament held at Boswells School over the last weekend attracted over 100 teams from all over Essex and went about as smoothly as we could have hoped. A beautiful sunny day helped and our army of volunteers were kept busy parking cars, selling burgers and keeping the tournament running on time. We’d like to thank all of those who attended and hope we see you all next time. Congratulations to our raffle winners:

On 20th May Springfield U18s completed their time in youth football by lifting the Chelmsford Youth League Division 1 winners trophy.
A late winner against Hannakins Farm at Springfield Hall Park secured a 3-2 victory, which meant the team went through the entire 2017-18 league campaign unbeaten, a remarkable achievement. Picture shows skipper Alfie Halliday and team with the league trophy.
Well done lads, and all the best in adult football!
Goals for Leonnie Bezant and Julienne Zaplin seal great win.
Our Under 13 Girls won the Essex County Girls League President’s Cup against the odds last weekend at Ford Sports Ground to finish off a great season for them.
Neil Parkhurst’s team beat Frontiers Youth, who are a division above our girls, 4-3, with goals from Julienne Zaplin and a hat-trick from Leonnie Bezant is what can only be described as a truly team performance. Our successful squad shown below.
Next Season’s Under 12’s, (School Year 7, Sept 2018) are hosting open sessions for next season (2018/19).

It’s been all go as the season draws to a close and our Junior sides have been having lots of success.
Main picture above shows Antony Waring’s Under 13 ‘Reds’ who won their Cup Final on May 6th, beating Chelmsford City Clarets 2-1. Goals from Gabriel Olu and Billy Headland ensured the Sky Blues collected the silverware.
They now go on to represent the County in forthcoming competions.
Finally (for now) seen to the right here are Under 11’s ‘Blacks’ who also won their recent Cup Final against Billericay Royals ‘Blue’s, winning 5-1 on the day.
